• Transitioning Thunder Bay to a Knowledge-Based Economy – This study, undertaken on behalf of the NSWPB by Paul Knafelc of Community Benchmarks, examines the Thunder Bay Census Metropolitan Area with the express intent of identifying and documenting the economic and labour force characteristics and trends that demonstrate or hinder the transition to a knowledge-based economy. (Released December 2010)

• Graduate Retention and the Economy of Northwestern Ontario – This study, undertaken on behalf of the NSWPB by Dr. Livio Di Matteo, examines graduate retention data in the region and proposes strategies for avoiding the “brain drain” (Released: November 2010)

• Building a Superior Workforce: 2009-2012 Labour Market Action Plan – Produced by the North Superior Workforce Planning Board in August 2009, this publication provides current information on the economic landscape of the Thunder Bay District as well as 16 actions that will direct the NSWPB in the next few years. (Released: August 2009)
  • UPDATED Labour Market Plan - In March 2011 the Plan was updated with current data, new partnerships, and other valuable labour market information for the Thunder Bay District. (Released: March 2011)
• The District of Thunder Bay Labour Market Inventory – Released in November 2009 by the NSWPB, this publication provides data gathered through surveys and interviews conducted across the District in the Spring of 2009, focusing on six sectors: Forestry, Construction, Mining, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Knowledge-Based. (Released: November 2009)
